My Minimalist Rustic Entryway Table Refresh

We’ve lived in our new home for just under a year now, and I’ve never quite gotten my entryway table decorated just right. I decided to give this space a little makeover to finally get the look I want.

I started by browsing on Pinterest and found that I really love the look of modern boho and sort-of minimalist style. I also found a few rustic décor pieces on clearance that paired nicely with the rest of my home décor. The end result is a rustic entry table with boho minimalist accents. Say that 5 times fast!

The first small change I made was spray painting my mirror. I loved the original champagne gold colored frame, but it just wasn’t working in this space. I used Rustoleum’s paint and primer spray paint in matte black to give the frame a more modern look. I love using this spray paint because it’s one step and done! I almost always have a can of the black on hand for projects.

I also decided to change the orientation of the mirror on the wall, which drastically changed the look of the entryway. I don’t know if the light hits it differently or my eyes are just playing tricks on me but switching the mirror from horizontal to vertical makes the space look bigger.

After giving the entry table a good cleaning, I added the decorative pieces making sure to keep it minimal. I kept the runner (which I made using pieces of burlap and linen ribbon) on the tabletop to break up the dark color of the mirror frame and black vase and candlesticks.

In case you’re wondering, I did make these black accents when we first moved into the house. I updated the hexagon patterned vase by adding a candle holder to the base, and to the candle holders (which I got at a thrift store) I added a candle plate to the top. These are painted with the same matte black spray paint.

The galvanized tray was a clearance find at Michaels craft store, along with the two galvanized lanterns I added to the bottom shelf of the table. The last accessory I purchased was the weaved basket, which I found at Ross (a store like Marshalls and Burlington) for $14. After an exhaustive search, I decided that price was a steal for the size of the basket! I added a neutral fall throw blanket into the basket very loosely to soften up the look.

The finishing touch was adding accessories to the galvanized tray, all of which I had either displayed around my home or stored away. I added a faux plant in a larger container to make it appear bigger. And finally, I added a few pumpkins and a small sign that were from Dollar Tree.

*Pro-tip: Before going shopping for accessories shop your home! Whether you’re looking to decorate a tray or shelf, you will likely find pieces that you hadn’t thought about or that you can re-purpose to refresh a space.

I’d love to know if you have a space in your home that you just can’t seem to finish or is just not to your liking! You don’t have to break the bank to give your home a fresh new look.
